This is super awesome for Mac users only. If you’re an audiobook narrator, or a podcaster, or anyone who needs compressed, limited processing of your sound, here’s some great news: Withu Loud or quiet music files are not a problem in themselves: do not listen to them with other files, just turn the volume wheel in the audio boxes. The middle file, 'ae vo output.mp3' is the output from Levelator. In the screenshot below, the top file, 'ae vo.wav' is the original, untouched recording. Click the Match Volume Settings button to expose the settings adjustments. The Levelator scans your original audio, adjusts the levels of the audio as it goes along, and when it’s all done, creates a new version of your audio that, well, just sounds better. Click the little Magnifying Glass icon to enable automatic analysis of files as the y're dropped. The Levelator, previously only available as a 32-bit (read: old) application for Mac, is now available in the Mac App Store, updated to work with Catalina, the latest MacOS (and older MacOSes as well: so far, it works all the way back to Sierra.), and I demonstrate installing it and using it in this episode.
